Nin
Nin town is situated at the northern border of Dalmatia, surrounded by beautiful sand beaches that are overlooked by Velebit mountain, and it was founded on a small lagoon island with stone bridge connecting it to the mainland. Nin may be a small town but do not be fooled by its size as it has a rich history and cultural heritage to boast with. It was populated back in the prehistoric times, during Antiquity a Roman province was founded there, and during Middle Ages it was Croatian royal town where Croatian nobility resided. Today, Nin is a popular tourist centre and great holiday destination. Regarding its rich history, Nin is a kind of a time machine as one can find antique remains as well as Medieval church belfries and churches (St. Cross in Nin is the world's smallest cathedral), along modern sculptures. In the near vicinity there is a saltworks, one of Nin trademarks, which can be visited and get an insight into sea salt production.
